The most famous and characteristic symbol of Venice, is the Gondola. This
wooden model boat represents a typical Venetian Gondola circa from 1882.
The model boat now is rebuilt without the roof in the middle of the boat and
used to carry tourists along the Venice river in Italy. Contrary to popular
belief the gondola is never poled, as the waters of Venice are too deep.
These days it's very common to see tourists taking rides around the beautiful
city of Venice, Italy. Gondola's can be quite elaborate, featuring gold decorations,
as well as red and gold carpets and velvet uphostery. Most of these fancier
varieties of gondola's are used in weddings and other special occasions.
