Friesland Wooden Tall Ship
The Friesland was originally constructed in Holland, in 1663. The Friesland
was part of the great fleet of the United Province of Holland. She was a second
rank vessel, built around 1663 with 80 guns.
In 1672, she took part, under the command of De Ruyter’s Command, along
with 77 other vessels, in the battle of Solebay against the Allied Anglo-French
forces. Friesland is particularly noted for the particular refinement of her
poop decorations and the superstructure of her decks.
